John Haffty

John Haffty brings over 20 years of Healthcare Information Systems experience and is a recognized expert in the MEDITECH HCIS. With Jim Navin, he has formed Navin, Haffty
& Associates. Prior to this, he served as President of UCR Solutions, which developed Internet applications for the MEDITECH HCIS and provided technical services to these hospitals. During his one-year tenure, UCR Solutions achieved significant revenue and profit growth and established itself as a national company. Prior to his time with UCR Solutions, Mr. Haffty served as Vice President of its MEDITECH Consulting Group for Superior Consultant Company. Under his leadership, Superior grew into one of the largest MEDITECH consulting practices in the country. During his three-year term at Superior, Mr. Haffty oversaw more than 40 implementations of the MEDITECH HCIS, of which more than half were with the Client Server platform. He was directly involved in managing the successful re-implementation of MEDITECH's largest, multi-facility client-server project. His team grew to a staff of more than 50 consultants.
Prior to Superior, Mr. Haffty was Chief Information Officer for Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Mass., selected as one of the best hospital information systems by Hospitals magazine in 1992. While at Newton-Wellesley, Haffty implemented the MEDITECH health care information system and developed a beta-site relationship with the company where the hospital became a showcase for prospective client site visits and tested new products and upgrades.
Mr. Haffty has been a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society since 1986 and was selected for the prestigious Constituent's award for Information Systems in 1999. An active member of the MEDITECH community, he was the Northeast Regional Chair of the MEDITECH Users Group (MUSE) from 1988-1990, and was on the MUSE National Board of Directors from 1990-1994
Tony Kubica

Tony Kubica brings over 35 years of healthcare experience to the Navin Group.
Over the course of his career, Tony worked as a department director and in senior executive positions in large healthcare organizations and in a mid-size consulting company. He was an Assistant Hospital Director at the John Dempsey Hospital of the University of Connecticut Health Center, Vice President at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and the Vice President of Hospital Services for Rhode Island Hospital (RIH) in Providence, RI, where he was responsible for all clinical and ancillary services. He was a member of the RIH executive team that achieved a significant financial improvement initiative, and he was instrumental in introducing a service/quality program into the organization. While working for 12 years at Superior Consultant Company, he started and grew two national information technology practices, served as a management consultant, practice leader, and the senior executive responsible for recruiting and consulting sales. He was a member of the Executive Committee and the Senior Vice President responsible for its management consulting division.
Tony holds a B.Sc. and M.S. in Pharmacy and an M.B.A in Health Care Administration from the University of Connecticut. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and of HIMSS.
Ken Shapiro

Ken Shapiro, based in St. Louis, joined the Navin Group in
2001 after spending 19 years working in healthcare technology and managed care.
Ken's clients include healthcare informatics companies, pharmaceutical data
companies, clinical trial technology and service organizations.
Ken holds a Masters Degree in Hospital Administration from
the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri and a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in Political Science from The University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. Ken is a
member of HFMA.
Melinda Morton, CPC

Melinda Morton is part of Navin Group's Clinical Operations
department.
Melinda is currently working with top Boston teaching
hospitals as well as hospitals across New England. Melinda is recruiting
for clinical, financial and operational staff, managers and directors in all
areas of healthcare.
Melinda holds a BA degree in Psychology and Masters degree
in Counseling. She is an active member of MGMA, MHHRA, NEHRA, MONE, and is a Certified Personnel Consultant.
Doug MacLean

Doug MacLean has worked as a search consultant for the Navin Group since 1990, serving as Vice President for the last four. At Navin Group, Mr. MacLean has recruited for clinical managers and operations management positions in acute care, long term care, physician group practices and home care.
He is a member of the Massachusetts and New Hampshire Associations for Healthcare Quality. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Massachusetts
Mercer VandenBurg

Mercer van den Burg, based in St. Louis, Missouri, joined Navin Group in 1993. He has utilized his experience in healthcare information systems to build an active practice focused on supplying sales, marketing and systems implementation personnel to vendors of healthcare information systems and to healthcare consulting firms.
Mercer holds a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri and is a member of HIMSS, St. Louis chapter.
